Pros
Merck Oncology has brought to market a game changing immune checkpoint inhibitor. Keytruda (pembrolizumab) has revolutionized oncology treatment. The agent is well tolerated and extends patient’s lives in so many different disease states. Representing this agent was a joy and privilege. So great to hear about patients doing so well on therapy from physicians and nurses.
Cons
Merck is heavy with process and red tape. It’s really hard to do your job because there are so many arbitrary rules Merck outs in place over an above the highly scrutinized government regulation of pharma companies. Additionally, there are too many reps in a geography so you end up competing with colleagues for access and appointment with customers.
