Pros

Nice working environment, many talented and hard working people. The current president is competent and company after endure a DoD segment wise down turn, is bound for an upswing.

Cons

Location is a bit unattractive, but heard they are moving to Andover soon. The middle management is a little crowded.

Pros

Good benefits (health insurance, 401k matching, etc...). Professional environment. It's your average engineering job working on defense.

Cons

Loss of direction - 6 months after I left about half of software was laid off including the entire group I worked in (as far as I know).

Pros

The focus at Mercury is primarily on generating results, not engaging in office politics. This focus results in a culture that is not hierarchal, rather encourages individuals to reach out to management at all levels of the corporation in an effort to achieve positive outcomes to customer engagements. For example, it is not uncommon to see the CEO eating lunch with a team of engineers to learn more about the challenges that the team is currently facing. One of the major positive outcomes of Mercury's focus on results is that a typical Mercury manager does not micro-manage their employees. Rather, employees are treated as professionals and given opportunities to excel with minimal oversight. This management style typically translates into fantastic work/life balance for a majority of Mercury employees. Mercury also spends a considerable amount of money on research and development in order to bring new innovations to the defense marketplace. As a result, many of Mercury's engineers get the opportunity to work on projects that are focused on bringing bleeding-edge technologies to market. Finally, Mercury's primary mission is to support US Defense Prime Contractors as well as the US Warfighter. The technologies and products that Mercury provides helps ensure that those serving in America's Armed Forces have the best technology available to successfully complete their missions and return home to their families.

Cons

Too many meetings are held to resolve internal, non-customer related issues. Many of these meetings are booked for 30-minute intervals when they, in-fact, only last for 10 to 15 minutes. A change in this pro-meeting culture could return valuable work time to employees reducing time that must be spent outside of traditional work hours resolving other issues.
