So much cooler online....

Pros

- Receipt of a paycheck - Ability to work with a handful of genuinely good people

Cons

- Leadership encourages (almost guilts) team members into going online and leaving good reviews about the company in social media platforms - The ELT is totally detached from the pulse and true culture that is present at the site level - even after many employee engagement surveys, nothing gets done - Vision and strategic direction of the company is off base and subjective; actions taken as part of "1MPACT" are not data driven and truly value added nor sustainable - Communication of goals and performance of plan to actual is horrendous from the top down and from the bottom back up. This is because of poor management at the site and senior BU leadership level as the management style is executed by micromanagement and/or someone that has reached their point of incompetence (Peter Principle) - The organization as a whole does not follow its own Core Values, Ethics or examples of Morale with the biggest being a lack of accountability and integrity - Compensation for the true value add folks, those hourly direct laborers that work on site, kitting, assembling, testing, inspecting and shipping the products (and have through COVID) are simply not treated the same as their salaried counterparts. They are just another number in a head count and capacity plan

Pros

Not many. .If , you want to work long hours and not be appreciated or treated horribly. . Then Mercury will be for you. Company sent us all surveys 2 years in a row. Scores where some of the worst in the industry . Management has dog a ponny shows about how they care about employees and their families. All lies. . Business as usual. Until Mercury starts with new management. Amazing talent will continue to leave. Company announces million dollar contacts weekly.. Yet.. No Christmas bonus or formal party. Horrible raises. On. And on..

Cons

So many cons. . Management with no management skills. Supervisors who can't read nor right in English. Work weekends and holidays with no recognition nor rewards. . Disrespected daily. Hostile work environment. No work.. life balance. . Don't plan on seeing your family if you work here. .

At Mercury, our goal is to create the best possible environment for our talent community. We are grateful for all of our employees and strive to make their experience here rewarding and fulfilling. To that end, the Mercury you describe in your review is not the one I know, at any of our sites, Phoenix included. The results of our recent culture survey support the notion that while we are not without opportunities to improve, we are well above the industry averages in the areas of employee engagement, contentment, professional development to name a few. Specifically, the Phoenix site rated above the overall Mercury average in 8/10 categories. The leadership team has worked to create an environment in which employees are empowered to define their own work-life integration, balancing it with the understanding that we are a results-driven, high-performance organization. I am concerned about your feedback and take it very seriously however, I need more information and detail in order to dig in and make changes where necessary to ensure my perception of our culture in Phoenix is true for all employees there (and beyond). I would like you to reach out to me personally to discuss the issues you referenced in detail so that together we can get to the bottom of them and further, address and correct them. I can be reached in the following ways: phone, (669) 226-5815, email, charles.leader@mrcy.com, or face-to-face. Please contact me promptly. I am eager to learn what I may be missing and act quickly to resolve anything that is amiss. Sincerely, Charlie Leader, SVP & GM, Advanced Microelectronics Solutions

"Do as I say, not as I do"

Pros

Company has a fairly flexible work schedule in terms of working from home when you need to. Benefits are reasonable. You can leave at the end of your day knowing you made a difference to our military. I keep that in mind every day when I go home with my spirit crushed on the worst of days - it's the only thing that keeps me from calling in sick the next day.

Cons

I'll reiterate a lot of what has been said already but it is worth repeating. The company sets these lofty goals for being a great place to work. They are trying to put the image out there, then hope the company becomes it, as opposed to changing from within and having that image reflect externally. If the company was honest about its work environment, the company slogan would be "Do as I say, not as I do". Some of the management has a set of rules for their work friends and another set of rules for the folks who do the real work. Don't expect to be treated fairly. It's not what you do. It's who you know. Nothing that happens is illegal, it's just highly unprofessional. Mercury is very clear on its guidelines - unprofessional behavior is tolerated and encouraged by some managers. Nothing bad enough to get someone fired, but just enough to drain the life and work ethic out of you. Don't try complaining, because everyone at Mercury knows what happens to those who don't drink the kool aid. If you are interviewing with Mercury, I hope you end up in a better group than I did. Don't accept a lower salary because it's a self-proclaimed great place to work like I did.

Thanks for this feedback. We understand the gratification that comes from having a direct impact on our armed forces - it inspires us too! We think our work to support the warfighter is part of what makes us a great place to work. It's not about the image, although we do want people to know what a great organization we are so that we can attract and retain more top talent like you. Some of the things that we do to ensure our employer brand is more than just a brand include having engagement teams at every site that work to bring our employee populations together for some fun activities while also making an impact in their local communities. We conduct surveys throughout the year to keep our finger on the pulse of the organization and culture; and calibrate as needed according to what we learn from them. Glassdoor is also a great resource for us - reviews like this one help us to learn what's working, what needs work and ultimately, to become a better company. We encourage you to speak to your manager or seek out your HR business partner, to have a candid conversation with them about what you're experiencing. "Spirit crushing" is not a term we are happy to see associated with the environment at Mercury and we want to do what we can to correct issues and ensure we have happy, fulfilled employees.
