Pros

Health benefits are good, coworkers throughout the hospital are friendly to one another (not including Administration/Upper Management)

Cons

Below-average pay, if you are an hourly coworker you are capped at your "annual raise" which will be no more then a small fraction of your hourly pay - don't ever expect much - even if you are covering multiple positions since it takes 3-6 months to get someone hired after a position is vacant. POOR MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION - cannot express that enough as it is noted in multiple departments, from food service to patient care to administration. HR is not coworker friendly at all - they will deflect issues back to "your direct report" even when your direct report refuses to help you. Its like they don't want to actually do their jobs. As a new hire, you're excited because during orientation they talk a lot about "Mercy Values and Charisms"...its a facade. Your duty is to carry those out to patients, but don't expect those values to come into play when it comes to how Mercy treats their employees.

Pros

Very easy to get hired on and they absolutely won't fire you unless they have to fire you. Great for kids just out of high school or collage kids.

Cons

It's very stressful. Understaffed always. Underpaid. Management would hire new people give them amazing pay rate while people who had been with the company 4 plus years and were making way less than the newbies. You are not appreciated. They have to give you a 30 minute lunch but good luck getting a second break. Mercy is not organized. The Sisters no longer run the hospital and it isn't the same. The management won't listen to anything you have to say. Go somewhere else, seriously it isn't worth it.

Pros

You will have a job.

Cons

Management is HORRIBLE! There is absolutely no communication at all. 5 different "managers" that give you a different answer for the same problem. When you express your concerns about materials needed to use to complete job task you are ignored and made to feel like you do not know how to complete the job. Workers in this department are overcome with many job task but not given the allotted time or coworkers to complete said task. Daily work flow is constantly changing because of the lack of employees to cover all task. Employees were hired with NO experience or license. The establishment as a whole is prejudice including many of the staff. Nurses are completely rude and lack common courtesy. Nurses will talk rude to you and turn around and tell your manager before you can even get a word out on how they treated you. HR does NOT help employees out they only take managements side regardless of the situation. Many of the employees in the Acute pharmacy department walk out because they are over worked and under appreciated. Employees are rewarded for their lack of knowledge of job description. Lazy employees are rewarded by not being given complicated task. The attendance policy is a joke, and only applies to some employees. Nothing is organized and is a complete mess for a new coworker. Training is a joke and is practically non-existent. You are expected on your first day to instantly pick up and remember an abundance of information. Which is overwhelming and many new employees end up terminating employment during the training period. Management is ONLY available during day hours and is almost impossible to reach for 2nd and 3rd shift if an issue occurs. If working 2nd or 3rd shift communication with management is thru email. The pharmacy is in shambles and i would never recommend to anyone.
