Good and Bad

Pros

Mercy is a business with a mission like many others. They treat their employees well but like many health systems do have a history of employee layoffs. A lot of good and professional people work here and have been here a while.

Cons

Mostly writing this review to share information about their retirement benefits which is hard to find any information on. I have worked at several health systems and Mercy’s retirement package has been the least generous which is probably why very little information out there on it. For new hires they match up to 2.5% a year plus 1% service contribution with 5 or fewer years of service. Depending on when you start you may not start getting the matching for well over a year into your employment (I won’t get mine till about 18 months of full time employment ). You also aren’t vested in the match until three years of vesting meaning if you left or were laid off during that time the matching money would go back to Mercy. Mercy’s matching does get better with time and if stay for 15 or more years will increase service contribution to 4%. Annual raises are also the least generous I’ve received this past year despite exceeding performance expectations. I don’t want to disclose amount but was less than 3%.
