Pros

Pay was decent. Not great, but decent. Many of the clinical care staff were kind, committed people. There's a prestige associated with Mercy -- although it's often undeserved. The whole Mercy ethos is maddening when people are behaving like those in Marketing behaved, but it can be inspiring when you talk to nurses and others who live the ideals as opposed to just spouting them. These people have perverted a holy vision. Catherine McCauley would be appalled.

Cons

Do not go to work at Mercy. You will regret it. The turnover is unbelievable. My bosses in Marketing have a history of getting rid of employees for made-up and self-serving reasons. Didn't get your work done? It doesn't matter that meddling higher-ups dropped three-week projects on you and your boss was MIA for months at a time. Didn't hang out on Saturday because you preferred to spend your time with people you like? You'll pay for it -- you're not part of the cult. And if you're not a mind reader, you're out. Also, they'll tell you to take ownership of any mistakes. Watch as they dodge the frequent mistakes they make. The skill level of the supposed professional communicators in my department was terrible. Take a look at Mercy's advertising and PR efforts. It would fail a college summer course. These people are clinically stupid yet they're in charge of one of the nation's leading Catholic health care networks.

Pros

Decent Pay and there are a few good people.

Cons

ER staff are extremely click-ish. They do not like anyone that is new and has the guts to tell you. Management knows, but doesn't care.

Pros

Love my current manager, wished she ran the whole hospital

Cons

Every year they give reasons why not give a decent raise and every year they lower insurance benefits while raising the cost. They are more worried about hiring new nurses rather than keeping the current ones. They spent money in media and technology rather than their employees
