Pros

The mission of the organization is something employees can support and embrace

Cons

The decline in the actual Sisters of Mercy has hurt the connection to the mission of the organization as it is difficult for lay employees to demonstrate the passion the Sisters have

Good place to work

Pros

Education opportunities, team atmosphere, supportive management, good doctors, nurses had a voice, encouraged professional development

Cons

Pay does not compete with surrounding states. Nurse patient ratio could be high at times. Continuity of care was never a top priority. Nurses caring for a patient for 4 hours then moving on to a new set of patients is not safe. Sometime the patient satisfaction scores mattered more than actually how well cared for the patient was.

Not what I expected

Pros

Thorough training, great philosophy on paper, good team work with co workers

Cons

Will re-organize and send nurses home when shift is almost over. Leaving the unit in chaos. Will put nurses on standby and then call in 1hour later. So focused on saving a dollar employee and patient needs are not considered.
