Pros

I had 3 wonderful coworkers to work with.

Cons

The manager of the office had no management background and as a result the office was ran poorly. Hardly any communication between management and staff. Office was consistently understaffed, which obviously wasn't a concern to management. As a result of being understaffed, I often worked with no lunch break and longer hours than what is required of me. Overworked and underpaid. When I gave my two week notice, the manager finally admitted that I was doing the work of two staff members and that there was going to be difficulty in fulfilling my position. I was told I had a promotion and that it would be effective immediately and the raise would reflect on my next paycheck. I didn't get that promotion until the day AFTER I gave my two week notice. Can't help but feel that promotion was only pushed through after a notice was given to cover the manager from any wrongdoing. I was also treated differently and poorly by the manager after I gave notice. Coworkers, including a temporary worker from a temp agency, approached me stating that the manager was speaking poorly of me behind my back. That is unprofessional, especially from a "manager".

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review about your time working for Mercy. Feedback is very important for us, especially in the growing healthcare business, as it helps us make sure co-workers have a way to share their concerns and suggestions with us, and we take everything we receive externally and internally very seriously. It’s really disheartening for us to read your thoughts on our management team. Our managers are held accountable in the business which we measure through performance reviews. We appreciate that there will be times where we need to upskill our managers further in certain areas of the business. Whether you’re a contractor or a full-time employee with Mercy, we want you to have the same great experience but it sounds like we have some things to improve and work on. We champion a culture that values honest and transparent communication, so if you would like to share more feedback confidentially which we can look further into, please email mercyrecruitmentfeed@mercy.net.

Pros

Mercy generally does a fantastic job hiring a good set of people that are genuine and truly care about their fellow man. I find most areas at Mercy to be staffed with highly qualified and professional individuals.

Cons

Management turn over is frequent and the replacement managers are less qualified and tend to be not as educated in the area of expertise as the employees they oversee. They make decisions regarding our work environment that are literally detrimental to the physical health/comfort of employees that are stuck sitting for 12 hours staring at screens without hesitation. Further, I find the new managers tend to focus too much on negative, petty things which is extremely frustrating. It has made me seek employment elsewhere within the system.
