Upper Management respects no one.

Pros

The pay is all right.

Cons

Upper management completely disregards their management team. Planning is totally ignored and unrealistic demands get thrown around with little to no notice for reasons unknown. Management is aware, but scared for their own jobs, so they watch the employees get pushed around and can't do a thing.

Pros

One of the best career moves I have ever made was to join the Meritage Homes Team in Atlanta. Amazing Culture that shows tremendous support for their Sales Team. I was told "Homes Don't Sell Themselves We Need GREAT Salespeople" . How wonderful and refreshing to hear how Sr Management values the people who are the "face" of Meritage Homes.

Cons

You have to up your game! You will work Harder, You will work Smarter and the Rewards will follow. Be Ready to take your career to a new level.

Pros

I made it our with my sanity. Seriously, I cannot think of anything work wise for this division. I guess energy efficiency if the home is built right and completed on time.

Cons

They don't care about their people. The upper management in the division have no business being in their roles. The turnover is out of control and they cannot hire any decent people because people do not want to work there. In the past year, the closings have been delayed longer and longer effecting buyers lifes. Communities opening later and later, 6 months and more, effecting the sales personals lifes. The office is cold and people walk around either angry or depressed because the morale is so low. The management spends more time pointing the finger at other departments or past employees to the issues that have started since they came on board, rather than trying to fix them. Everyone spends more time doing CYA instead of what they should be doing to be successful and one of the biggest challenges is, no follows through on what they are supposed to do and will simply just ignore emails, calls, etc. Corporate started a new culture in 2017 which would have been great; however, at Meritage it sucks. At the divisional level, NOT ONE Person in Management follows the 6 core values. They are completely the opposite. At the Corporate level, they follow it as necessary or as it fits them. Go back to your previous culture because you can follow your new one, especially in Southern California. You had 3 or 4 people who trully tried to live the core values and grow them, but because no one else did, they have all left now. To add to that, all of the qualified, dedicated hardworking people have left and moved on to other companies. The only ones left are 3 or 4 office personnel and the sales team with a couple CMs. I have been asked if I would ever go back to work there, the answer is no, not unless most of management was turned over and actual qualified people were in place. Finally, the work/life balance is...... Well there isn't one, it all work with little to no life. Amazing families stay together what what they deal with for spouses who work here. I know my family and other families are miserable until employees leave and go to a better company.
