Pros

For a couple decades I worked for MetLife, until the decision was made to relocate IT to North Carolina. During my time there, I was given every opportunity to succeed and make significant contributions to the technology solutions there. The environment is mostly supportive and collaborative, and strong relationships and teamwork dynamics are allowed to flourish - these informal relationships are as important as the structured ones, and are often leveraged for success.

Cons

Do not ever make a change without having followed the proper change management procedures, this is actually grounds for termination! Although there is an understand that mistakes will happen, to make a change without authorization - and have that change go sideways - you don't want to be there.

Large company challenged with bureaucracy Over zealous restrictions on systems and access in IT Heavy fragmentation amongst service areas - lot a of handoffs required to get things done, takes a lot of time Lots of legacy processes / systems in need of overhaul
