Pros

Agents with long work history can be a resource The operations staff locally was strong and helpful Existing clients could be contacted about new products Sales Directors were open to help agents

Cons

The communication about how to submit basic (non-insurance) products was poor from HQ-based service areas. There was management talk to encourage an agent to offer several different products and serve a client's needs with the best fit for them among many product choices. The reality however, was that it took too much time to master the work flow of more than a few products. The most successful agents stuck to one or two products and did their best to master those.

Pros

In this economic climate, I would only recommend this job to recent college graduates who are still supported by their families.

Cons

To be successful, you must work evening and weekends, while making at least 200 prospecting phone calls per week. Your odds of being successful in this career, characterized by heavy atrition rate, are less than 50%.
