Pros

The company is one of few in the financial or insurance industry that is still in business. I still have a job in this tough economy. The benefits are comparable to others in the industry. It is comfortable to work there if you work with the right mix of people. Change is happening and the evolution of people working at MetLife may be a step in the right direction, however the timing of its Operation Excellence can be detrimental to some in this job market.

Cons

Career growth is very limited if you are not a male or caucasian. There is a lot of "social promotion" that happens based on who you know and not happens as a result of reward or deserving accomplishments.

Pros

Benefits are generous, including annual incentive at all levels, based on company performance

Cons

Too siloed, many people have a narrow focus on only what is good for them and their department, not the customer or greater good
