Pros
- Amazing benefits/perks (food, gym, healthcare, etc.) - Bright coworkers who motivate you to collaborate and do better - Opportunities for real impact
Cons
- Because there is an opportunity to stay IC, sometimes peers become leads out of default/lack of supply. This leads to subpar management across several teams - I have also seen management hired in externally who have no idea how to be a manager. Are recruiters not checking their candidates' backgrounds? These charlatans will slowly deteriorate what was once an amazing culture - Politics have started to mitigate internal mobility, growth, and development opportunities. This also seeps into the 2x/year performance cycle - I have unfortunately seen FB throw some tenured employees away like trash. It is important to realize that this is still a big company who will protect its bottom line (or play to favorites) whenever it can
