Empires & Game of Thrones

Pros

Reality, neither a pro or con: It's getting fierce as many teams grow on the business side. With growth comes empire building and people will fight for ownership of your team's work. You see team's shifting scope and grabbing land. You have to be fierce and aggressive to win. That has always been the case at Facebook - just look at what types of people get into leadership roles. If you like this type of environment, Facebook is your place.

Cons

There will be winners and losers. Career growth to gain skills is hard. Internal transfers are harder than getting hired externally.

Pros

You can work with some smart people on challenging problems. You can learn from the existing infrastructure.

Cons

Not as much room for growth anymore. Bad work/life balance. Waining company culture being replaced by Microsoft suits. RSU grants are at the whim HR, so you really have to fight for a good offer otherwise you'll regret it.
