Pros

Meta sets an extremely high bar for talent, and being part of People Ops meant working alongside smart, driven, and genuinely capable people. The scale of impact is unmatched, processes, systems, and decisions affect thousands globally, which forces you to think rigorously and operate with discipline. Compensation and benefits are competitive, and there’s real exposure to best-in-class tools, data, and operational frameworks. You learn fast, whether you want to or not.

Cons

The pace can be relentless, and priorities shift quickly based on leadership direction and business needs. People Ops roles, in particular, can feel reactive during periods of change, with limited room to slow down or be fully proactive. Decision-making can be highly top-down, and context isn’t always shared evenly, which can be challenging when you’re expected to execute flawlessly. Burnout is a real risk if boundaries aren’t actively managed.

Pros

Benefits, free food, the pay, the insurance, the old immigration process that no longer exists.

Cons

Stress is through the roof, sometimes feels like the pay is not high enough to cover the trauma. Green card is almost impossible now. Food is free, though often undercooked.
