Pros

You're given the opportunities you can handle as soon as you want them. Reasonable remuneration Good work life balance The employees are supportive of each other and the workplace isn't political.

Cons

Not as highly paid as other software jobs (but equally, fewer pressures) Located in Enfield so not amazingly central Historic tendency to not take on new technologies as quickly as other companies (although that's improved recently)

Pros

- They care about your development - You get to work with really smart people - Good work life balance - Lunch time sports - It's out of the center, so the commute to work isn't busy

Cons

- Salary doesn't increase very rapidly. All of the people at the company are smart enough to go elsewhere and earn twice as much - The telecoms sector isn't very exciting

Metaswitch Response

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It's always great to receive positive feedback on development and work life balance. These are among some of the great perks of working at Metaswitch and are certainly a result of our fantastic culture; which is of course influenced by the great people who work here! It's a shame to hear that you feel your salary has not increased rapidly whilst at Metaswitch. Reviews should be an opportunity to openly discuss salary with your management line, however if you would like to discuss this further please reach out to the HR team. Thanks again for your feedback and I hope you continue to enjoy life at Metaswitch. Max - HR

Pros

They will hire you with no software knowledge, and train you well technically in 1-2 years. You'll get as much responsibility as you want to take on, and plenty of exposure to lots of complex technology. There's a decent starting salary for a graduate, and some very flexible working hours.

Cons

After 1-2 years, the remuneration becomes uncompetitive. Base salaries are low compared to other software jobs for your level of experience. There is little or no further training in e.g. management, personal development, certifications etc, and few career opportunities beyond the purely technical. The company has an uncertain commerical outlook, so right now there's some pretty low morale and whether any bonuses will be paid is uncertain.
