Pros

Great work life balance, scheduling time off is a breeze. Bonus incentives.

Cons

As mentioned by others, office rules do not apply to everyone; a lot of favoritism goes on around here. You will need to kiss managements' behind if your even thinking about moving up but wait!...your turn will come after 10+ years when someone decides to retire. Management walks around and has no shame in advertising that your job is always on the line " you are all replaceable". Forget about going to management for any concerns, you will be rediculed , accused of being a "kindergartner" and will be reminded that you need to grow some thick skin.

Pros

Good provider to the community as a secondary safety net hospital. New, clean facilities. Good hospitalist providers.

Cons

Inflexible schedule, intense pressure from the management to sacrifice the time needed to ethically and responsibly follow up on medication orders, which is required to ensure safety and efficacy to the patients, vs. inflating productivity reports in order to look good. Extreme favoritism demonstrated towards certain staff. Annual merit raises are also awarded based on favoritism. There is a creation of wedge issues and "us vs. them" attitudes within the department, which creates a disturbing, negative impact on patient care, as well as damaging the trust which is needed amongst coworkers to function as a team. Instead of the appropriate managers forcing dept employees to work as a team, and observe common professional courtesy, all too many decisions end up being made by the loudest, while those who should know better simply look the other way. All of the hospital's departments have a problem with employees passing through the revolving door; the hospital president and CEO either need to come out of the office, or start reading different reports.
