Pros

Methodist Healthcare will take care of you more than any other facility in San Antonio. But sterile processing techs are severely underpaid and causes tons of turnover in this field. But if you’re going to go thru with it, choose Methodist all the way

Cons

Pay, turnover, on your feet, lots of hours

Pros

- Free Mental health services - you're going to need it. - Internal job postings allow for potential lateral moves within the system - Job stability — large system with a steady flow of patients - Decent health insurance and benefits package compared to some competitors

Cons

- Incompetent upper management with poor decision-making and no accountability - Human Resources engages in unethical, possibly illegal practices, often retaliating against employees who speak up - Low pay compared to other healthcare systems in San Antonio, despite similar or higher workloads - Toxic work culture where favoritism thrives and genuine concerns are ignored - High turnover and burnout due to chronic understaffing and unreasonable expectations - Little to no support from leadership, especially during high-stress situations - Lack of transparency in handling complaints, investigations, and internal issues - Retaliation against whistleblowers or those who speak out about problems - Inconsistent enforcement of policies depending on who you are or who you know - Poor communication from administration to frontline staff - Employee well-being is not prioritized, despite branding claims - Decisions made by leadership often don’t reflect real patient care needs or employee input - Employees are routinely spoken to and treated with disrespect, and leadership allows this behavior to continue

High Turnover

Pros

The people are great in the ER. Well, they were. The hospital is newer than most built in 2012.

Cons

High turnover, but they don't get counted if they're internal transfers to different HCA owned facilities, or to different departments. Patient population is extremely entitled and hard to work with because the hospital is located in an affluent area. Lots of new nurses on the floor and it is very dangerous for patients. Their lives depend on who is on shift. There is no path to increased pay unless it's taking on the responsibility of a charge nurse which nurses under a year are now assuming that position which is wild.
