Pros

I've been at Metroplus for 3 years, and it's been a pleasure the entire time. I'm a testament to the opportunities for career growth and training that are available. It's one of the most diverse work environments I've ever been a part of. Just like with any other employer, there are certain benchmarks and goals that you have to reach; but they're all attainable. I have supportive management to help guide me, and my staff does an amazing job every day.

Cons

Payroll is archaic and outdated. It would be a lot more simple to do electronically instead of on paper.

Pros

Mission-driven organization with well-educated, highly-committed staff on board. Working for MetroPlus meets my desire to serve New Yorkers - not only lower income and immigrant populations, but a wide range of people - and offers a real opportunity to positively impact the health and well-being of more than half a million NYC residents. C-suite/management seems dedicated to improving employee satisfaction and engagement, and is implementing a number of initiatives to reach those goals. Excellent benefits, including educational opportunities and pension. Solid work/life balance. Overall, very satisfied with my career choice to join and remain at MetroPlus.

Cons

City-agency status can create roadblocks to effecting quick change, and some of the rules and protocols can seem a touch archaic. Staff and management can occasionally seem hesitant to embrace change, as well.
