Pros

Excellent Medical/Health Benefits! Potential pay is very nice once you are promoted to Full-Time. Lots of different divisions to work out of. (All of L.A. County)

Cons

Extremely large company - Sometimes you can get lost in the mix. Depending on what division you work out of, there can be a bit of drama. The amount of hours you work (Full-Time) will keep you away from your family. (Ex. 4am-6pm shift) If you have enough seniority to get weekends off, then you will be fine!

Pros

well you usually don't have to work that hard. and the benefits are pretty good. plus the pension is reasonable

Cons

Robs you of motivation. It seems that most management is incompetent. Things never seem to be done correctly just people winging it.

Pros

Stable for the staff. There is no advancement but if you want a job in this economy with a 3% raise each year this is the place. Unless you become management then you can expect to be fired within 5 years

Cons

Its a very political enviornment. The boss is a political appointment and so are all his department heads. Attorneys run everything and think they are all geniuses (they aren't or they'd be in private practice not government). Every new boss spends the first three years telling you why they are better than they last boss and the next two years trying to find a new job or mitigate damage they've caused. Morale and professional decorum are low and relationships are always strained by backbiting, infighting and liasions.
