Pros

Wide variety of quality merchandise Good people working for me. Good compensation

Cons

Too many policies and programs Not enough payroll to get the job done properly Not enough payroll to take care of the customer. I do not intend this post to be negative or positive. I am merely issuing a warning to this company that once stood head and shoulders above their competition. When a company takes away the store`s ability to take care of the customer properly those customers will go somewhere else. Anyone can satisfy a customer one time. But a retail store should not want satisfied customers , they should want LOYAL customers. The same goes for their employees. If the company makes it so difficult to do their job they will go work somewhere else , usually for the competition. And when you run off all your good employees to the competition what will you be left with? And when this happens the competition that you once so proudly dominated will come back and kick your butt! This is not only a prediction but also a cold hard fact. Look at some of the other companies that went down this same path...Kmart , bankrupt...Eckerd Drugs , bankrupt and taken over by CVS , Woolworth and Woolco , out of business , just to name a few. These were all giants in their industry but screwed it all up by missing one simple concept of retail. And that is have enough help to fill the shelves and assist the customer , and I don`t mean just ringing them up at the register. I mean really taking good care of them. They also missed another key step in not taking care of their loyal employees. If you have a good employee pay them what they are worth and you will build a team that will stay with you and then you can kick your competitor`s butt instead.

Pros

Great co-workers, mostly flexible hours for part timers, visible tattoos and piercings as well as un-natural hair colors are ok and in my position (in the frame shop) there's always something new to learn and I can really see my progress and growth within the company. And I do love my fellow framers.

Cons

Upper managment often turns a deaf ear, needs are never met, S**t rolls downhill REAL fast. I started out as a seasonal sales associate and was able to move up into the frame shop pretty quickly, however the obvious 'favoritism' that our store manager displays with the framers has kept me from advancing to senior certified framer. We are expected to meet certain percentages for the product we sell (i.e. masterpiece glass, triple mats, etc.) but because i am never scheduled during the day or for more than 4 hours at a time, i am consistently failing to meet my sales goals. I was told by my district manager that I "was'nt even trying" to sell custom framing when that is clearly not the case here. Also, I never work with any of the other framers, so if there is a job or technique that I am unfamiliar with, I never get the opportunity to learn from one of the other framers. My managers are simply okay with stunting my growth as a framer. Also, when we ran out of cleaning supplies for the bathroom, it took several months to get our store manager to order more (we were cleaning the bathrooms and breakroom with nothing more than plain water) and the same holds true for the frame shop materials. More than once we have been late on getting a customers piece finished because of a lack of appropriate materials.

Pros

They are very willing to work around a school schedule. The pay is decent and everyone is professional and friendly.

Cons

It does get busy sometimes. Some of the other workers worked slowly and didn't seem to care much but that wasn't much of a problem.
