Pros

Generally stable Good benefits Lower cost benefits Good work life balance You can find interesting and challenging projects Good people Reputation of not engaging in radical layoff behavior WLB is probably better than most semiconductor companies (with a cost)

Cons

Pay is under industry average Some deadweight Reputation of not rewarding innovation and performance, with pay, RSU's etc. Sort of a socialist mindset sometimes. It can be a good company to work for, but pay can be a negative.

Pros

I cannot think of any pros because I've experienced a great deal of mental trauma.

Cons

My immediate manager was a big bully. I brought it to the HRs notice and no action was taken. I finally quit the job. The manager is unprofessional and most of them focus on office politics rather than work.

Pros

Flexible schedule (for me, at least). Free heating in the winter, free cooling in the summer. The people (non-management) are great to work with.

Cons

Our site used to be Atmel, and after the transition, it just kinda sucks. We were given offer letters nearly 8 months after the acquisition, so we were told we couldn't get actual employee benefits until then (ESPP, bonus plans, stock grants, etc). However, we had to fill out performance reports for our prior year, even though we weren't considered employees by Microchip. However, in the email about the review cycle, it said we were all technically Microchip employees at the acquisition date, so the reviews were mandatory. Funny. Well, at least my shares will start vesting late 2018... Employee since Apr 2016, ha.
