Pros

No innovation, use m/a as a tool to steal others work. All they care about is money! Company you should stay away from

Cons

Worst 401k package ever and does not honor severance package which is promised by previous executive. Microchip will also try to reduce your salary after the acquisition

Pros

Stable company in a stable and growing market space. Their lag in technology, while purposeful, lends to a wide range of areas to work on and improve. This can create amazing learning opportunities for younger engineers. The on-site CareCorps clinic is a great off-set to the otherwise poor/expensive benefit options. The flexible working schedule and focus on work/life balance is very appealing.

Cons

Management can suffer from indecisiveness and analysis paralysis. Recently the many acquisitions have caused them to re-evaluate the product road maps multiple time per year, which can be very detrimental to the moral of the development teams. An inside joke is to call the company "Micro Cheap" because they pay the bare minimum they can get away with, leading to frequent employee turnover. Their benefits are just on the acceptable side of things, nothing too great. They preach an inverted organizational chart, where managers exist for the benefit of the employees, but don't realize that concept in terms of openness, communication, inquiry, or compensation. The CEO has recently adopted a "be glad you have a job and stop asking for a raise" mentality recently.

Pros

Microchip just got merged with Atmel. Completely disregarded severance benefit letters distributed to Atmel US employees. Employees are being laid off and not getting the packages that were promised to them based on the letters.

Cons

Not honoring severance agreement. Worst 401K plan ever.
