Pros
* Break out of the classic AEC company roles. * Huge opportunities to learn new things if you are motivated. * Some smart people to work with and learn from if you can find them.
Cons
*Expect to have to battle for even a small raise *You need to be borderline annoying and pushy to do anything interesting in the company otherwise you will most likely end up a full time CAD designer regardless of your skill. *You can suddenly become managed by someone without a clue of what's going on simply because they play office politics more than you. *Management can become overly involved in small details of projects even though they haven't touched a CAD program in 25 years.
