      Pros

      You get a chance to work on current edge technology. Ability to impact code that runs on a large number of systems.

      Cons

      Some organization tend to be very process heavy which can be conceived in a negative or positive manner by engineers.

      Pros

      There is a focus on career and growth. Don't expect to be handed a career or your manager to do it for you. It's up to the individual to drive their career and build it. Another reason is the access to the technology and working with really sharp, driven people. At least in our consulting practice there are no (or very few) lazy types.

      Cons

      With a company the size of Microsoft, they sometimes have difficulty stopping and turning direction on a dime. Or worse yet, be ahead of their time and fail to capitalize on their early arrival in a market (tablets, mobile, search)

      Good technology, well known brand etc

      Cons

      SAlery is really bad, internal fights of revenue, not recognizing the sales work, finance more after to find a way to not pay salery than recognize people.
