Pros

Very intelligent people, everyone wants to chip in, fascinating research/discussion topics... Also great way to meet people in various fields who are usually not accessible. Fun and relaxed place to work.

Cons

Depends on which side you are on. If on the research side, Phd's gain more out of the experience as you can often publish papers etc. If on the business development side, it can get frustrating trying to grow the organization as it is a nonprofit, but this is probably applicable to most nonprofits.

Pros

The location is just blocks from the beach and one block from the Santa Monica Promenade. This is great way to spend your lunch: outside and in the sun. Once you get to know most people, they are nice.

Cons

Nobody ever got promoted when I worked there and the culture of fear is like an ever-looming, negative cloud. The only research that goes on is for the big guy at the top.
