      Pros

      Stable environment, the culture is one of dignity and respect, it's relatively easy to make a career change (i.e. technical service to marketing, or R&D to sales, etc. - many places won't let you make such a change without having direct experience)

      Cons

      Sigma Aldrich is a conservatively managed company and tends to underpay. At times it's a blessing that the company is conservative and at other times it''s frustrating and seems to hold the company back from success. There is no real career development program, upward mobility often seems to be limited to those on pet projects and management favorites, depending on ones role you may find yourself under-worked and bored or completely inundated and unable to keep up

      Pros

      The people are great! They are also a breastfeeding friendly company.

      Cons

      Benefits are mediocre. They require 9 hour days which means lunch is unpaid. They consistenly pay less than their competitors as well. They are a financially conservative company. Working in production is horrible!!! Don't do it ever, they won't invest in proper equipment,they require the chemists to troubleshoot through problems which they aren't qualified to handle. The main production facility in STL is falling apart literally!
