Pros

You get a stipend and your tuition paid off for grading, teaching among other things. If you love what you study get a GA in your own department!

Cons

Not much, make sure you don't spend too much time in your assigned duties.

Pros

Working within my own building has almost always been a positive experience -- my supervisors (at least one or both at any given time) were communicative when able and were receptive to any criticism I provided. Always had someone to back me up -- never felt too alone.

Cons

Management often had unrealistic, poorly communicated, or unreasonable expectations -- working hours were a common issue, and the barrier between lived job experience and management's perception of our jobs was often very different. Often felt more like a looming threat than a wealth of knowledge.
