If you're in academic affairs, you'd better hope to work under a decent Dean. Otherwise, it can be a nightmarish experience. They frequently overwork and underpay women of color and always hire them for "admin" roles. Meanwhile, they seem to require a lot less from white male employees and yet pay them significantly more.

Facilities in my department were garbage- leaky roofs, no temperature regulation, insects, not ADA accessible. Toxic leadership within the department. President is dismissive of departmental concerns and needs. Dean of the college is a bag of hot air. No benefits for adjuncts, working contract to contract. Let go for flimsiest of reasons.
