Pros

Overall this is a very good company to work for. Some of the highlights are: - Morgan Stanley is full of very talented and smart people - Morgan Stnaley uses a broad technology spectrum and experiments with lots of cutting edge technology - The benefits are generally very good. (e.g. up to 3 months of paid family leave under certain circumstances, such as having a baby) - Most departments operate on very high ethical standards - Good training program - Compensation is generally very good

Cons

Morgan Stanley is a large and some times anonymous corporation. As a result the departments can be very fragmented (eg. if you want to run a database you have to go through the dba group) My biggest gripe is that Morgan Stanley engages in extensive offshoring, especially to India, which can be a challenge and dampens morale for NY-based employees.

Pros

Good culture, brilliant people, top industry player. Overall its a great place to start a career you deal wiht really big important client relationships and the managers are very willing to help you learn. Very much a work hard-play hard atmosphere. Work very long hours but almost everyone I work with is down for a good time on the weekends. Almost every person in my analyst class is from a top tier school and is very intelligent, but more importantly, they are fun people to work with and have a real personality.

Cons

Large, bureaucratic--you know your place in the chain of command, long hrs

Pros

Morgan Stanley has a great brand and some of the best intellectual capital in the world. Strong senior management and good communication with the employees for the most part. Very strong investment banking, Prime Brokerage and fixed income departments.

Cons

They are very behind on technology and training. Goals and requirements are very tough for new advisors. Turnover is very high. The biggest producers are taken care of the smaller a producer you are the less management watches out for you.
