Pros

interesting jobs (especially if you work as an equity or mutual fund analyst) flexibility and lots of time off, such as sabbaticals every 4 years, time off at your discretion with most people taking about 4 weeks off per year; good benefits, especially health insurance, the hours are reasonable, most people get off around 5PM, it's not your typical finance job hours. Also, flexible hierarchy and advancement comes by merit, if you do well then you will be promoted. Also, people hired are pretty decent people, and there are opportunities to go abroad if you want. Morningstar also gives you free bagels

Cons

Lower relative salary compared to other finance jobs

Pros

Benefits and advancement opportunities. You get a lot of responsibility right away at Morningstar, and it is a meritocracy; they will advance less experienced people, if they are truly capable. Also, the 401K and health benefits are amazing, there is a wonderful sabbatical policy (6 weeks paid consecutive vacation every 4 years), there is no vacation policy but you take at least 3 weeks off during the year, AND they pay for 80% of your higher education tuition.

Cons

Salaries are quite low compared to other similar companies. Also, they say that titles don't matter here, but they really do. There is a hierarchy, but management pretends as if it doesn't exist, so it takes a while to figure out who is who in the company.

Pros

Great benefits, good work/life balance, flexibility, and flat organization culture

Cons

Relatively low pay in comparison to the industry, being pigeon-holed into the same repetitive tasks each month, complacency among other employees, work not very challenging. The sales department think they are the center of the Morningstar universe and the equity analysts feel overburdened.
