Pros

Good brand with lots of premier products. Good culture and education/career development opportunities. People that work at Morningstar are certainly smart and creative. The development program itself provides good opportunities to get exposure to different parts of the business. I've had great managers who are open to candid career conversations. Benefits are great.

Cons

The first rotation is essentially tech support for their FinTech platforms. It's not enjoyable and not what folks signed up for, but honestly it does provide a good introduction to Morningstar and the industry. Can easily get stuck in the first rotation for a year though so make sure to be proactive. Morningstar also underpays. MDP salaries are low and non-negotiable, and it's difficult to drastically increase compensation after starting so low (even when transitioning jobs). Lots of people leave and come back. Progressing through the ranks is also difficult because the hierarchy is fairly flat.
