      Good place for grads, excellent for seniors, poor for everything in between

      Pros

      Nice work environment (except if working on HS2). Good work/life balance depending on project. Opportunity for growth if ICE CEng is achieved reasonably fast. Office usually located very close to major train stations.

      Cons

      Unclear career progression once CEng is achieved. Risk of being pigeonholed in the role, with very little room to expand expertise. Salary is pretty poor for technical staff. Very little (or no) investment for training.

      Good Brand for your Resume and for being involved in larger projects, if you are lucky and people like you

      Cons

      Very "political" environment, people are using you to do their tasks so they can achieve their goals. Good Engineers but BAD Co-Workers. Bad Planning, Pure Management running out of budget. Unsteady workload. Once you are not doing their job, they do not care about you.
