We are thrilled that you have chosen to invest your career here at Mozilla. We agree the people here are the biggest asset Mozilla has (brilliant and gifted, well as passionate). And thank you for the request around leadership development; growing our people at all levels is a key goal of our planning process right now.

Pros

Company is transparent and open, provides wellness days, great compensation. Remote first so the flexibility is great.

Cons

A bit disorganized, frequent re-orgs, they adjust your pay if you work outside of your home city for two weeks.

We appreciate you taking your time to share your experiences with us and are pleased you feel taken care of; we invest a lot to make our benefits highly competitive because our people are essential! And certainly things have changed considerably since the initial success of Firefox up to today’s pandemic, which is behind our leadership, strategy and organization changes even in the past year to allow us to better invest in our future. We did this so we can better invest in innovation and product development initiatives like our Builders and Mradi programs and an inclusive design team. And we’ve also diversified our product line beyond Firefox, growing our Pocket, Hubs and VPN products with more to come for our users, all to ensure a bright future for Mozilla and especially the internet.

Pros

- good pay - excellent benefits - feel good mission - very remote friendly

Cons

- disruptive reorgs every 6 months or less - covid layoffs, which could have been avoided 2-3 years ago - executives promoted without measurable impact - leadership has limited business experience - repeating same mistakes every 2 years - unable to commit to portfolio diversification - toxic behaviors from those protecting themselves

We’re glad you felt taken care of while you were at Mozilla and appreciate you sharing this even after you have left. As you may know, the changes we’ve made over the past few years are critical for us to adapt to an evolving internet (and world) that needs our work more than ever, including explicit commitments to racial justice from our leadership team. Other changes we’ve made to our leadership team, our org and to our strategy are critical so we can invest in our future. This includes investments in innovation and product development with programs like Mozilla Builders and Mradi, and building out an inclusive design team where we can apply our values to an evolving internet that needs us more than ever.
