- Expected to be on call 24/7, will get called in to work on a moment's notice - CEO literally laughed in my face when I suggested formalizing an on-call policy for the company - Even on weekends I can't travel or make any personal plans. On paper I can, but in practice my performance evaluation will take a hit - Pay is merely average for the sector. Considering the abysmal work-life balance, it is not a valuable tradeoff - High turnover for the above mentioned reasons - Management proposed a solution that would allow us to convert overtime hours into leave days, that program was squashed almost immediately after they learned how many days off people would receive due to excess hours

Work is life, that is the balance. Engineering leads and CEO are very happy to pressure engineers to work long hours and weekends, or to immediately travel onsite without notice. Stingy. No 401K match, industry average salaries at best. Performance evaluation gets delayed by half a year every time. Apparently, it is also being cut from semi-annual to annual. There used to be a flexible time off policy where overtime can be converted to non-payable PTO. Leadership proceeds to realize overworked engineers have too much PTO on their hands and promptly killed the policy. Deadlines? In this economy? Every single project is sold with an unrealistic timeline. CEO take pride in the fact that Mujin can promise "a cutting-edge system even sooner than the customer is expecting". I have not seen any project delivered on time, yet engineers still need to work long hours and weeks to attempt to hit the deadlines. Non-transferrable knowledge. Mujin's software stack is extremely proprietary. Most of what you learned in order to operate its system will not be useful anywhere else. No one is willing to maintain up to date documentation to onboard newcomers as core features gets updates randomly. Lack of career path. The engineer job description can be largely ignored. At any point team leads will pull the "it's a startup we must wear multiple hats" card and ask you to complete things out of your job description, often for extended periods of time.
