Decent Job, Poor Career

Pros

If you love cars, have a strong knowledge of their systems, and are savvy with computers you'll love the work. Discounts on parts for your personal vehicle is a great perk plus you forge bonds with skilled local mechanics. Good company Christmas party each year.

Cons

Virtually zero opportunity for advancement when/if you become a store manager. Help is hard to come by so plan on being short handed often. No bonus or commission plan. Minimal reward for becoming ASE Certified or earning any other industry certifications. Don't plan on a yearly review/raise process. 9 hour days, 5 days a week with alternating full Saturdays and only one 30 minute lunch break.
