Pros

-You get to tell people you work at NASA -Excellent job security -Fairly flexible hours -The benefits are fairly good

Cons

-Moving from one organization to another is nearly impossible, so if you don't like what you're doing, you're stuck with it -Miles of red tape to get anything done -Pay is sub-par for an engineering job in Silicon Valley

Pros

Cool work, with one of a kind opportunities to be part of space exploration. Lots of education reimbursement benefits. Good work-life balance.

Cons

Slow and bureaucratic, with many "lifers" unwilling to work. Innovation and youthful enthusiasm are blunted at every turn. Reliance on congressional funding cycles makes work choppy and disjointed. No connection to final product and no PROFIT MOTIVATION.

Pros

Working for NASA has always been a dream.

Cons

Latest round of management has been here for a couple of years, and has brought in their friends. No one with any experience in house is considered for promotion. Second in command is from an outside company and has been hiring all his previous managers into high salaried positions - without competition.
