Pros

The work environment is very organized, inclusive, diverse, and everyone is willing to help by providing training, tools, or passing down the knowledge.

Cons

Fully on-site work environment where only one day is remote, which does not allow for a flexible work-life balance.

Let's see, I was asked to work off the books to meet some deadlines. One month, I was ordered to put in 238 extra hours, above my 40/wk. When I met the deadline, I was then told not to enter my time in WebTads. Or perhaps you would like to hear about how in a meeting with a person and my manager where my manager told a 3rd person that I could run a device over to them as i needed to lose weight and reached over and patted my stomach. My department was known for dumping employees that had issues. One manager with IBS was pushed out as the department gave him no support and made his life a living hell. There was another employee who had ADHD with a form of psychosis, all well documented before him being hired. When he had medication issues that required him to miss some work, they organized a plan to force him out. This was told to me in confidence by the head of security. I complained to our division director about the antics of my manager. Nothing was done. NASA's response to me was to try and get rid of me. They hired a new manager and put her above me. She rode me every day, rewrote my job description to make it impossible for me to complete my job. I saw the writing on the wall, so I applied for Federal Disability. The new manager was making my case and was looking to generate paperwork against me for not being able to do my job. I got it before she was successful and was able to generate another 6 years for my pension for a total of 27 years. My advice to you is if you are considering working for NASA, stick to the technical departments. Most seem to be happy there. You will need to pay to keep up the certifications, and training as they have no training budgets. Stay away from Customer Service as most employees there in DC think their poop don't stink and rules do not apply to them.
