      Pros

      If you want to have a work place that supports your family and personal life outside of work, NAVFAC is a wonderful place to be.

      Cons

      Much of the old ways of the federal government are still evident, such as promotion on tenure and an inability or unwillingness to accept change as a good thing.

      -Secure and stable job. -Family and personal lives do not take a back seat to work. -Steady and predictable work schedule. -Very family-oriented. -Steady pace of work, with the exception at the End of Year crunch.

      Cons

      -At times getting the resources to make your job easier is a struggle. -Computer systems will never get better.

      Pros

      Working for the gov can be rewarding, NAVFAC was not a bad place to work if you like D.C. The pay was lower than for normal engineers.

      Cons

      Lower than usual pay, but get raises at predictable intervals. Commuting is horrible and the pay almost guarantees you have to commute as it is not really enough to live comfortably in D.C.
