Pros

The company celebrations on the lot can be really fun.

Cons

Writing this as a warning to all, to help those that are going through this currently and call for help from outside of NBCUniversal. Matt Lauer incident is not an accident or unknown or isolated. NBCUniversal has now taken on the practice of moving the men that have been accused of sexual harassment and harassment from the office location where they were accused to different offices. Similar to what the Catholic Church did with the abuser priests. There was a incident that happened at 10 Universal Place 27th floor where 8 employees banded together and complained to HR and the division SVP about bad treatment that included sexual harassment, bullying and harassment of LGBTQ. The abuser was a male Director of the department for over a decade, behavior was out of control and did cross the line into both harassment and sexual harassment which seemed to be confirmed by HR located in NYC. Why then was the accuser moved from Los Angeles at NBCUniversal expense to work in the NYC offices by the division SVP. The SVP created a new role for the confirmed abuser that didn’t exist, even allowing him to maintain title as director, reduced responsibilities and increased salary. It was made clear that the SVP’s personal relationship kept the abuser out of legal trouble in California and gave him a better job. Again, this is not isolated there are many more stories that people are afraid to share due to the retaliation. Be warned if you come to work here at NBCUniversal, it is a toxic and highly illegal environment where employees are allowed to be mistreated publicly and regularly.

Pros

Working at NBC has cache - it's just cool to say you work at NBC

Cons

1. Very low pay 2. Boring work working with horribly rude sales people 3. Aggressive, over-bearing manager who stunted my career progression by literally taking work from me. She frequently praised my work so it was like she didn't want me to outperform her. 4. Unequal distribution of work on my team. I was the only black person on my team and consistently got assigned less work than my teammates despite performing better than them, having more technical skills and constantly asking for more work 5. White people got away with murder and there was a double-standard in what was expected if you're a POC. White Coworker got violently drunk at a party and a VP laughed about it with her the next day. A white director frequently snapped at my colleagues and wrote rude emails and it was brushed off. One time i didn't sound chipper enough when speaking to my manager and she took me to HR. 6. When I called out all of the biases I observed, the HR exec and the management on my team literally pushed me out. HR emailed me every week asking about my last date and the managers literally stopped acknowledging my existence purposefully going out of their way to ignore me. I wish I had a stronger case or I would've sued them. 7. They treat internal candidates horribly. Before all of the drama, I applied for several internal roles and they don't even have the courtesy to send rejection notes after you interview.

Pros

The only pro was the community created among coworkers (non management) to survive the absolute torture that was working at NBCU international. The International Interstitials department is the only good department.

Cons

Management fails upwards driving out any real talent. The corporate culture is creatively stifling. Time is constantly wasted in meetings where nothing is accomplished. Zero accountability placed upon management. HR does not care if you get harassed by management in any way; emotionally, sexually, physically. Across all of NBCUniversal, The Los Angeles International office scores the lowest on the employee satisfaction survey every single year.
