Pros

Pay is good after profitable years, mediocre otherwise Benefits are OK

Cons

Dictator at the top threatens all who bring facts that don't fit his opinions Reduces staff in sales, marketing and engineering routinely with dishonestly and disrespect to the dearly departed when revenues pull back for any reason Home of the underachiever's club False claims of innovation: there is none All Tactical, No Strategy - the CEO likes it this way Company talks Values it doesn't Live Revenues and profits are falling - company is guiding lower

Pros

flat organization, each position can cover many aspect of function and responsibilities. work done is more visible.

Cons

Most of the decisions came from one person, little collaboration or consideration of employees' opinion. Resource is very tight with the unrealistic objectives set, and workload is very heavy, long work hours. And the heavy workload is constant without any break from time to time. Heavily depend on transactional business for commoditize product and technology. with thin margin, the overall benefits and resources are very low. Some units are quite political among different teams. Even with flat organization, there is heavy process involved and things can't move fast even for very simple things. Company doesn't put much focus on work-life balance by offering the necessary employee program to offset the load and stress.

Pros

Good Compensation and Benefits. Easy commute.

Cons

Join this company if you want to end up high blood pressure. Upper management treats you like trash. There is no appreciation for what you do. No matter what you do, they are still not happy.

Netgear has no idea what it means to invest in its staff.

Pros

Decent office location, benefits were average.

Cons

Building A/C flatout didn't work properly leaving one side approximately 20 degrees warmer than the other. No opportunity for promotion within the company. No matter what was accomplished over a year, the employee review process would still make you fight to justify simply continuing to work there. Middle management positions were constantly shifting sometimes causing your chain of command to change 4 times a year(yes, every quarter). Equipment budgets for engineering departments beyond retail routers were minimal. The general culture of the office including company sponsored events could be best described as something that requires constant tip-toeing.

Pros

Decent benefits: Health care is completely paid for individuals and low cost for families, bagel and fruit Fridays, nice employee purchase plan for products and decent espp. It really depends on what you group you are in here at NETGEAR. Some groups have nice employees and managers.

Cons

In general, upper-management has been here awhile and it's the same old thing over and over. Promotions are not based on merit but instead given to people who are friends with upper management. Bonus % seems very attractive if it pays out (doesn't happen often). Change here is extremely slow. There have been numerous employee surveys and only minor changes have resulted. Additionally this company is spoon fed everything from the CEO. They outsource damn near everything and as a result product quality has suffered. Product firmware is god awful, I wont even purchase our products at a 50% discount.

Great products, most people are friendly and willing to help and collaborate. Good benefits.

Cons

Upper Management only focus is on numbers. CEO very controlling and everything must go his way. No room for growth. Understaffed for most projects that company commits to with very aggressive deadlines . No work/life balance

Pros

Good benefit, different product line, good place to lean about network products, free drink, good food during the company events.

Cons

Old fashion management style, no product innovation, limited communication within groups, not a fun place to work. Stock option is worthless, they need to change it to vesting stock.

R&D Unfriendly

Pros

Netgear offers a decent benefits package. We get free soft drinks, coffee and tea. The company offers a employee stock buying plan and also provides a company / employee based bonus program.

Cons

It's not a friendly hardware based company as it mainly derives most of it's engineering through and ODM's to maximize profit. Programs start off using a JDM model then all of the sudden the follow up programs become pure ODM cutting out the local Engineering talent. The company had one of its best years for profit and still had layoffs.
