Pros

I mostly enjoyed my time at Nexon. As a full-time employee (I can’t speak for temps), compensation and benefits were all adequate. Workload was reasonable, culture was relaxed and casual with people playing games, and the workspace and facilities are better than most places I’ve worked. For me, it was generally a pleasant environment for day-to-day work.

Cons

There are a lot of issues with Nexon depending on who you ask, since things vary widely between departments. You’ll find some departments where people are mostly happy and friends with each other, and next to them you can find a department struggling with personal conflicts, or workload issues, or organizational problems, etc. I think prospective employees should talk to people in that department to find out what it’s really like. Don’t rely on HR or Managers to give you the whole story.

Pros

Decent Office Unlimited PTO policy Bi-weekly Happy Hour

Cons

There was a time when a lot of western professionals were brought in to work on what was called "Nexon 2.0". Essentially a push to work with western talent to create games appealing to the western market. While the idea behind it was a welcomed and logical direction to go it ended up failing miserably. And the reason being is what is called the "Nexon Family Clan". There are several Korean people in key positions planted by other members of the "Family Clan" that are working way past their capabilities. They have no business sense, no empathy for players and no common sense either. What you would consider an acceptable quality standard for work is something that is way out of reach for many people there. And that creates a lot of emergent work leading to overtime and constant time pressure. If mistakes were made (which happens a lot due to their sheer lack of competence), the Family clan is trying to cover it up. If you point out mistakes for the sake of accountability or improvement you will instantly be made the enemy number 1. That means lies are being fabricated about your work while you are being back-stabbed from above. The sad part is that the "Family Clan" actually thinks that they are doing a world class job. Of course when you ask, they can't quantify or back anything up. So think about this company as the Trump regime - Just say words, make up lies, tell yourself everyday you are rock stars, it is always the fault of others and never yourself when something goes wrong, never question your boss and just do what he says. When you thought "Ok, this is probably the most stupid thing that ever happened at Nexon" you would always be surprised a week later with something coming up that was so stupid that nobody could make this up in their dreams. The appointment of the current GM (also part of the "Family Clan") resulted in a massive hit to the employee morale. In fact, many of the western professionals that were brought in to "fix" Nexon left in a hurry over the last few months as a result and I expect many more to leave as well. Long story short - If you just want to collect a paycheck, are fine with mediocre being the new northstar and to never question what you are being told while seeing plenty of bias towards members of the "Family" clan...well, then this is the place for you!
