Pros

I get to watch hockey at work. Pretty sweet. Great benefits, decent amount of vacation/personal time. Car service for employees who work late on game nights. The sick policy is great. Coming from a work environment where people would frequently come to work horribly and contagiously sick because we got attendance marks for it. It's extremely great to be able to take sick time without having to worry about exchanging your job for your health, and it makes the whole office healthier because people don't come in and get each other sick. Merchandise discounts are a plus, and access to tickets to events at MSG and Prudential (if they're available) is pretty cool. My work environment is fun! I like the people in my little corner of the office, and even the people I don't interact with on a daily basis are friendly. The people I do work with on a daily basis are really more like friends than coworkers. My manager is great, very understanding, and provides direction without micromanaging. HR always willing to listen if you have a question or a problem with something. The open door policy makes it much less intimidating if you have something you just want to ask a quick question about, or even sit down and have a discussion. It's pretty awesome to be able to work with people who are passionate about the sport the same way I am. In other office environments, I don't think people always have an immediate common interest the way people here do. For the most part, we all love hockey, and it's easy to build friendly relationships from there.

Cons

There isn't much opportunity for advancement, at least not directly. That being said, people definitely transition to other roles within the company, so while it's not a direct route to promotion, getting a pay raise and a higher position is a possibility. Also, just a minor complaint, you would think that the NHL would be able to provide employees with the chance to attend more games. We all love hockey, that's why we're here, but a lot of us still can't afford the super pricey tickets at MSG and all. Most of the people who work here are great, but there are a few whose gossip and trash talking of other employees makes things a little uncomfortable at times.

Pros

-The name looks great on a resume. -Given the chance to be extremely hands on with your position. -Opportunities to learn from industry veterans are endless. If anything, this is a great chance to learn the ins and outs of your position plus network.

Cons

-Pay is below what similar positions in other industries will pay. You will not get rich working in sports. -Wasn't a problem for me, but for those who are used to a 9-5 they won't last long as sports is a 24/7 field especially in the media departments. -Extremely difficult to get terminated. Once you're in, you're in. That may be a pro to some, but there were people working here that should have been gone a long time ago based on their performance and work ethic. -Certain departments are understaffed. The impact of this is huge as it effects everyone who has to make up for less teammates (working more hours, being asked to work an unscheduled day)
