Pros

Profitable, Reputable Name, Profit Sharing

Cons

The leadership team says that they are all about the employees, but beware of the "Chief People Officer". You will soon find out who she is as she is the presidents wife. She will be quick to boast about her many properties around the county and the world. She holds all the power whether who stays and who goes and will go on firing sprees.

Pros

Steady work, with a pretty solid foundation. Once known for the level of pay, quality of benefits and an almost family like atmosphere. If you worked at Nibco you were highly respected. Now when you tell people where you work they look at you as if your crazy.

Cons

Hard to keep a positive outlook when you work for a company that will out of the blue, take an employee who has spent 30-40 years giving loyal service and cut their wages $3.00 an hour because it's unfair to someone who's only been there 10-15 years. Also you have to be careful working for a company that had a policy handbook in a 3 ring binder so they can add to or remove or make policy changes on a whim.

Pros

Fantastic Brand, still a lot of wonderful employees, dedicated US workers manufacturing quality products used in the rough construction flow control industry. Superb training ground with regards to US manufacturing, Lean enterprises, and Business Intelligence.

Cons

Certain influential individuals with regard to hiring/firing are not looked upon with favor. Dedicated professionals that disagree with how things are handled are terminated, fear is rampant about being dismissed on a whim or "for cause". The sales side has no direct leadership and is looked upon as an extravagant "expense". Employees with 7-10-15 or 20 years are as easily dismissed as a trainee since certain entities have taken control. A quick review of the number of changes in VP of sales, retirees, and long term employees that have been dismissed for any number of "reasons" clearly demonstrates what an entire industry talks about..one individual run amok. Most companies pour resources into new and emerging products...NIBCO lumps it on the shoulders of single overworked employees. Most companies treat long term employees with respect, new NIBCO lays them off after 25+ years before the end of the year to save an IT bonus when they were going to retire a few months later. It is so sad.
