Pros

There are no pros working at The National Institutes of Health. The pay, work environment is horrible. Upper staff is very gossipy.

Cons

Everything unprofessional you think of while working at a job has happened at NIH.

Very challenging job

Pros

Learn how to work with different personality types, and can be nice on CV

Cons

Extremely toxic and dysfunctional working environment. I was basically treated as a glorified secretary, and received very minimal “mentorship.” Also worked 12-hour days and weekends for months at a time in order to stay afloat with the work, otherwise I’d get in trouble with my superiors.
