Stay away from Hydrarig/Enerflow divisions.

Pros

Since each division of NOV operates independently there are going to be a wide variety of everyone's experiences. Some divisions are quite well run.

Cons

In the Hydrarig/Enerflow division (Calgary, AB): -Communication down from management and between departments is lacking -Lack of training -No performance evaluations or wage review processes -IT is understaffed -Hiring office staff for hourly jobs at low wages and expecting people to make up the difference in overtime. -managers (claim to) lack the authority to adjust wages in their own division, requiring authorization from Houston

Pros

Truth is if you're not white, you're not right. No growth within this company not less you kiss butt. It's not what you know, it's who you know.

Cons

The benefits are great. 401K, Heath, Dental and paid vacation time. There's no chance of growth within NOV. This company sucks big time

Pros

Work- life balance - this is a place where you can definitely leave by 4:30 - 5pm and there aren't any late night conferences with other parts of the world although this is a global company Accelerated Career (first few years only) - if you make the good connections with the leadership team and they see how hard you work/value produced , it is easy to make to a manager level in 5 years. Although quite frankly your title sounds more awesome than your actual job. I was a manager for 3 years but never had any direct people reporting to me. Health Benefits - Wow seriously this company has amazing insurance benefits, your co-pay with health providers are low and I remember going to the doctor every time I even had a sneeze! LOL!

Cons

This place still has the "good old boys" mentality going around where I found people in a leadership team asking me to order in lunches because I was the only female in the meeting. Using terms like "he" for engineering jobs, operation managers was so common! Getting people to change here is ridiculously difficult! I graduated with an MBA and wanted to proposed changes to the leadership team and was basically told to "shut up and do your job". The pay was so low, they definitely believe in low cost and high volume. Last but not least, NOV acquires so many "mom and pops" and never ever streamline anything so it is typical to find a "mom and pop" out of Louisina/Texas operating under an S&P 500 header! There were things the company I worked for were doing that I felt like screaming because it was so backward!!
