Pros

Relaxed atmosphere, creative energy, working around smart people everywhere. You'll work at a true industry leader, and they have that reputation for good reason. Great chances to impact whatever fields your career touches on.

Cons

Management can be disorganized and / or slow to respond to changes in the business. Treatment of contract and temporary workers seems slightly predatory in the sense that they employ you totally at will, and can string hopeful people along for months at a time. Symptomatic of being at the top I guess, they can have their pick of employees in many fields.

Pros

Working with the best journalists in the business. Opportunities for world travel. Good salary and benefits. Incredibly fun place to work.

Cons

People can get pigeonholed and advancement stymied. People rarely leave the company so there is little opportunity to move around.

Pros

loved the people and the intelligently creative atmosphere fostered by the employees. Everyone is uniquely qualified in his or her own field but the collaborativeness that permeates the culture is unmatched. Great benefits, generous leave and my supervisor who is now retired was great!

Cons

this is a media company who caterers primarily to the journalist profession. Not much growth potential for other professional disciplines but that's to be somewhat expected. Too many Execs and Senior VPs and middle mgmt and below suffers when cutbacks are unavoidable. Performance review process is strictly biased. If your supervisor has personal issues w/ you, your review is rated low thus, decreasing the amount of increase you get.
