Pros

For the most part the freedom of coming and going as you please, just get your job done attitude was a win… my survey manager, and project manager were both good dudes. The leadership in the field, ALL good dudes. A truck and gas card…..but (see cons).

Cons

Definitely those dang LYTX cameras, not because any of us were doing anything that we weren’t supposed to be doing, it just flagged you if you touch your phone or if you eat or if you didn’t completely stop in some hick town at a stop sign, nobody uses, except to go to the country store. If you were on a job site, you had to put your seatbelt on to move your truck, anywhere! That and the sheer unwillingness have leniency was the number one CON for me. Their benefits salt as well, but at least you had some insurance.

Pros

You can work remotely, get a paycheck, and insurance.

Cons

Absolute worst company to work for. They only care to please the shareholders and you’ll get cut if you don’t conform to NV5. Whether you come on board as an NV5 employee or are acquired, there’s very little training and every business unit operates their own way. There are no consistent processes across all verticals and management is completely disconnected from the employees doing the work. They recently migrated into Vantagepoint and use it inefficiently. Everything in finance is a rush to get done and there’s too much manual work because “that’s the way they do things”. It’s pretty sad that such a large company operates siloed and inefficient. Don’t waste your time interviewing at this place, or if you get acquired, look for another job ASAP. They said there would be no changes the first year after acquiring a new company but that’s a lie. Processes changed and people got fired.
