Pros

The job pays fair and benefits are pretty good. At least for the moment. Those will be changing soon.

Cons

Transitioning from Freescale to NXP is causing a lot of changes, People being layed-off and being asked to a take early retirement. Then they replace them with TEMP's so they don't have to pay for the benefits.Constantly short-handed.Technicians being asked to cover operators so they can perform their own jobs in a quality way. Everyone is being pushed to do more with less people. Mistakes are being made because of the constantly trying to do too much with too little. Technical skills are under appreciated. Manager's poorly communicate with the floor and there is a "good old boys club"of former Freescale/Motorola management.

Europe BL Controlled

Pros

1. Flex hours and decent pay because Europe centric with their 3 months vacation per year 2. Be in BL & BU , and you are the King & Queen of NXP 3. Be in Rick's MT level and you can harass anyone for your $Ms benefits and anything your way with all others need to bow to you 4. Make many meetings and presentations session then you can go up career fast, and don't need to waste time knowing any real knowledge. I got promoted by such.

Cons

1. Be in the shrinked Ops like a US postal man level of competance nowaday, or the dismantled Corp RnD that lasted less than a year of fake shows 2. Not in BU & BL, then you are the colonized slaves and prostitutes for the imperialism 3. Shallow technical MTs nowadays that depend on spinning powerpoints for recognition 4. Today's growth is using aged old IP respinned for new use. No new capability as a high tech company

trimming for acquisition

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Company acquired great people and technologies in the US from Freescale. Compensation and benefits are average for the silicon industry. Company has pivoted away from experienced and older employees and wants to attract new grads and younger employees instead. But it is difficult for a silicon company to have completive compensation in high tech centers like Austin and Bay Area.

Cons

Company has been in a trimming and preparing to be acquired mode for years. Acquisition by Qualcomm failed but consolidation in the industry continues and the search continues. Company has reduced R&D investments and lost many of its leading tech positions. Many rounds of lay offs of former Freescale employees has reduced the ranks. Cant recommend for a longer career stay, especially if you are older, over 50, watch out for those layoffs. It does not matter how safe you feel your role is , this company does not want older employees.
