Pros

Relentless focus on mission, trying very hard to not RIF (lay off) employees during downsizing/restructure

Cons

It is a difficult time for any federal agency. NGA leadership is solid, but in this era any day can bring new lunacy from above. Due to large force reduction, anticipate limited opportunity gain entry, and limited upward mobility within, for the next 18-36 months minimum.

Pros

Great mission, lots of great people, decent pay (although gets eclipsed by private as you gain experience)

Cons

Culture shifts depending on the leadership; it’ll go from a great place to work with a great director to a pretty miserable place to work. And external politics do get felt, too. Telework policy used to be great, but that’s, unfortunately, all been dropped.
